The definitive video jockeys guide - 2. defining, what is a VJ?

November 13, 2007

The following paragraph is taken from an article on Wikepedia, describing video jockeys.

As a new artform VJing has many evolving definitions - the following quotations are some examples of how VJs are being defined.

"A VJ manipulates video in much the same way that a DJ mixes records. The techniques and equipment vary but the basic principles remain the same (e.g. selecting, cross fading, scratching, cutting and sampling a rhythm). Some VJs concentrate on just visuals, mixing and manipulating video or film, to create stunning projections. Other VJs use both sound and vision, mixing audiovisual samples to create whole collages or AV sets.

The article relates to the term" VJ", as in a professional nightclub performer.

Expanding the concept further, I would suggest that, given time, practice and the right equipment, anyone could become a successful club performer.

How to make a video- part 1.

November 7, 2007

The art of a video jockey can be both rewarding and fascinating, but it can be a hard taskmaster and it can get you into trouble!

After countless hours of practice, using basic, free tools and the best commercial software, I have managed to achieve somewhere near perfection and found a balance of sound and visual editing which has resulted in over 1 million views in various hosting site accounts.

I have also been down the troublesome road of account suspension, through copyright violation and romantic rejection because the lady actualy thought I was Robbie Williams!

In passing on my experience, I have started to produce a series of video tutorials, named - The definitive video jockeys guide, which shall take you on an incredible journey.

The first video tour is available free to anyone. To recieve the link, simply send a quick email, or even a blank one to - digitalblue2u@gmail.com - I promise to answer every request personaly.

Cheers,

Peter Roberts.
